Welcome to Barnsley YMCA Archers
Barnsley YMCA Archers is a friendly, members-led club open to archers of any ability and experience shooting any bow style accepted by Archery GB. Members are accommodating and supportive of other members archery needs and are encouraged to take an active part in the running of the club, its events and the maintenance of its facilities and equipment.
We are located in the heart of Barnsley, South Yorkshire, UK. As an officially affiliated club with ArcheryGB, the national governing body for archery in the UK, we take pride in promoting the sport of archery and fostering a thriving community of archers of all skill levels. We are also members to our more local governing bodies, Yorkshire Archery Association (YAA) and the Northern Counties Archery Society (NCAS).

Join us on Tuesday, 1st October at Broad Close Farm as we kick off the indoor archery season in our temporary new home, with range set-up instructions and a warm, welcoming environment for all members!
If you've never been involved in archery before, you might be surprised by just how many different types of bow there are!
🎯 Recurve — the classic bow style you'll often see at target archery events.
💥 Compound — uses a system of cams and cables to make the most of modern technology.
🏹 Barebow — a more stripped-back style, without sights and many of the accessories used on other bows.
🌳 Longbow — traditional archery with a very different feel and technique.
And yes… they all have their own challenges! And there's actually even more than just these!

When we head back indoors, our club member Gary is taking on a bit of a challenge — shooting as many arrows as possible in our 2-hour session to raise money for Weston Park Cancer Charity.
Gary's aim is to get sponsored for every 50 arrows he completes, with a personal target of at least 100 arrows!
💷 £5 for every 50 arrows
🏹 100 arrows = £10
🏹 150 arrows = £15
🏹 200 arrows = £20
The charity is particularly close to Gary's heart. Weston Park Cancer Charity provides free transport to and from Weston Park for people across Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield, as well as providing support, treatment and advice through their hub at Weston Park.
They also provide simple but important things like free tea, coffee and biscuits for people waiting for appointments or transport. ❤️
Gary has personally used their transport service and has seen first-hand what a fantastic job they do — so he's hoping we can help raise a few funds to support them.
